BROOM

When we were introduced to this sizeable Edwardian villa it still retained a compact dining room leading to a small kitchen, with an adjoining outhouse. Despite being at the back of the house the rooms had windows facing the side alley, and no real connection to the garden.

The owners needed some help reimagining the space, in particular a more generous familly kitchen and dining area for the whole family to enjoy. We developed a layout which brought together the dining room, kitchen and outbuilding, whilst expanding the footprint to the rear and the side of the space. The WC was relocated to create a more direct entrance into the kitchen, bringing more light into the space.

Architecturally, we developed an elegant and contemporary design style using materials that would feel modern whilst having a timeless quality that would allow them to sit comfortably with the existing building. We chose a sandy London brick, elongated steel doors and a beautiful standing-seam copper roof.

Internally the material palette focuses on dark aged timber and striking limestone flagstones. Studio Lunet also put together interior design schemes for the Garden Room, WC, Boot Room, and upstairs, the Family Bathroom and Shower Room.
