Introducing The Ovolo Mirror

Our first foray into product design, we are delighted to introduce the Ovolo mirror in collaboration with Patrick Ireland Frames.

A product of our fondness for period decorative elements and streamlined design sensibility, the Ovolo is an elegant modern mirror with a period slant. Made of solid European Oak with hand-painted lacquer inserts, this contemporary heirloom is available with a plain or a bevel edged mirror.

The Ovolo Mirror is the first collaboration between Studio Lunet and Patrick Ireland.

ABOUT THE OVOLO ▾

Born from our love of combining clean, contemporary lines with heritage inspired detailing, the design brings together four pieces of solid European Oak - the grain of each piece angled away from its neighbour - to create the Ovolo's unique oval frame.

Hand-painted lacquer inserts meet at the joins to bring visual harmony with a decorative twist to this contemporary heirloom. The Ovolo is fitted with low iron mirror glass (which removes greenish hue) and can be ordered with a plain or bevelled edge.

Overall Mirror Size: 590mm W x 840mm H
Frame Dimensions: 30mm W x 30mm D
Frame Finish: European oak with hand-painted lacquer inserts in Farrow & Ball Shadow White
Mirror Glass: Low iron mirror glass, available with a plain edge or a 15mm bevelled edge (pictured)
Hanging Mechanism: Split batten

The Collaboration ▾

The Studio Lunet x Patrick Ireland Frames collaboration began in 2022 after a fortuitous meeting at the Decorex Design Fair. We admired Patrick Ireland’s signature chequerboard lacquer frames and this sparked an idea.

Set up in the mid ‘70s by its namesake, Patrick learnt the tools of his trade from the ground up and today the company continues to specialise in producing hand-finished picture frames and mirrors using age-old techniques such as gesso, gilding and marbling.

On discussion with Abbie Ireland who now runs the company, we found that PIF was the perfect fit for our embryonic product idea for an elegant, contemporary mirror. After sharing our sketched design, the Ovolo became a reality.

From the initial design concept through to construction, we have worked closely with the Patrick Ireland team. Every element has been carefully considered and brought together by its craftspeople in Sussex and each piece is hand-made to order. It's our hope that this mirror is cherished for decades to come.
